Materials and metallurgical engineering is concerned with metals extraction and refining, structural characterization of materials at different levels, and processing-structure-property-performance relationship that exist in materials.
Material engineering is an interdisciplinary field and is concerned with relationship between structure of material at atomic or molecular scales and their properties. It is a specific science and engineering and has gained significance because of attention in the are of nanoscience and nano technology.
Science students with Physics, chemistry and Mathematics at class 12th level are eligible for the 4 year B Tech program in material and metallurgical engineering.
