And a human resource manager is the one who looks for this resource and helps create circumstances in an organisation where this resource performs.
A Human Resource Manager is a person who manages the manpower engaged in the companies to get the maximum possible output. There is no doubt that the role of a Human Resources manager is extremely challenging and that is the reason why this career is becoming largely popular among the people of the younger generation.
Today, a moderate or big organization employs more than 500 employees at various levels and capacities. The responsibility of a Human Resources manager is to manage the entire functional data of the employees and regulate them with their functions.
A HR Manager shoulders a big responsibility other than this too. He is responsible for recruitment of new employees and their training, if necessary. He is also responsible for maintaining their day-to-day records including their performance charts. The efficiency of an HR manager lies in the fact that he must be capable of producing all data related with an employee as soon as the administrators of the respective companies ask for. Due to his increasing responsibilities in managing the workforce for the proper functioning of the companies, an HR manager is assuming an important role in any organization.
This is a rewarding career as HR managers are paid handsomely by the employers.
A HR manager should have Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with Human resource as a specialization. The Courses on MBA are available with a large number of institutions all over India and abroad. The basic qualification for getting admission in this course is Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized college in the country. There are a few specialized courses, other than MBA, like IT and PM from XLRI, and Masters in Social Welfare, offred by different universities, from where the passing out students can join the HR function.
Admission in any stream of MBA in the best colleges is quite tough as the appearing candidates are tested in many areas like analytical ability, comprehension and data interpretation, numerical ability etc. The admission process usually begins with Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIM’s, XAT by XLRI and Management Aptitude Test (MAT) conducted by the AIMA. CAT is held once in a year whereas MAT is held four times in a year. These admission tests require highest amount of readiness and preparation. These tests are followed by personal interview and Group Discussion (GD).
IIM Ahmedabad which is one of the Top Institutes in India, charges a fee of Rs 19 lakhs for 2 year program.
At Undergraduate level College of Vocational Studies, Delhi University offers BA Human Resurce Management. Admission is on the basis of class 12th marks.

As mentioned earlier, an HR manager is paid quite handsomely. A fresh professional can earn anything between Rs. 2.5 lakhs and Rs. 5 lakhs per annum whereas a mid-level manager can make around Rs.8 lakhs to Rs.14 lakhs. Senior Managers can go anywhere upwards of Rs.25 Lakhs per Annum.
T.V. Rao, is regarded as “”The Father of Indian HRD””, A new Human Resource Development system emerged in India in 1974 with Dr. T.V. Rao and Dr. Udai Pareek heading the movement. It was started as a “”Review Exercise of the Performance Appraisal System”” for L&T by the duo from the Indian Institutes of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) which resulted in the development of a new function – The Human Resources Development Function. Dr. Rao and Dr Udai Pareek were instrumental in setting up the HRD Department for L&T and making it the first company in this part of the world to have fully Dedicated HRD Department.
Dr. Rao is also the founder president of the National HRD Network and the Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Sciences (ISABS).
Dr.Santrupt Misra, has had full-time professional work experience with the J.K. Group, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hindustan Lever Limited. Besides, he has been a trainer and consultant to about 40 organizations in India. Santrupt has published one book and several articles. He has won a Commonwealth Scholarship in 1990 for 3 years and was awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship in the year 2000. Currently, Dr. Misra is the Director on the Aditya Birla Management Corporation Limited Board, the apex decision making body of the Aditya Birla Group and is also responsible for the Group Human Resources and Group Information Technology function of the Aditya Birla Group.
It is said that an HR manager gets no holidays as a successful professional as his company requires his help and support all 365 days in a year. All the days of his professional career can be full of challenges and it becomes even more critical when his decision decides the future of the company. His everyday duty includes:
(1.) Maintain enough manpower in the company so that the work can be performed.
(2.) Engaging the manpower in the professional manner where nobody wastes time.
(3.) Ensuring job safety, security, and satisfaction for himself as well as for the employed manpower.
(4.) Ensuring the best quality of work.
(5.) Managing the entire recruitment procedure right from issuing notification and placing suitable candidates in suitable positions.
Teacher set question papers, correct them, make progress reports of the students, discuss the same with their parents. The teacher not just prepare student to sit for exams also encourage them to participate in extra-curricular activities. Before the end of the day teacher ensures that the respective homework is allotted to each student.
Taking into consideration the time spent by teachers on preparing notes, marking, training and in meetings with other staff or parents, it’s up to 50 hours a week a teacher works.
