Musicians can bridge the gap in individuals, groups, religions and countries. India has a rich tradition of music. In fact it would not be wrong to say that it is an integral part of socio-religious life in India. Music includes singing, playing instruments and dancing. There are multiple varieties of music in India like classical, folk, pop music and of course Bollywood music. As an industry it is quite big and provides employment to many in various forms.
Who is a musician?
A professional musician is a person who makes music his/her profession. Musicians and singers play musical instruments, compose or arrange music and sing. As it is a performing art, therefore there are successful examples of professional musicians, both with and without formal education in music. Many successful professional music composers have listed three key things to become successful in this field, one the person must be very good with either an instrument or vocals, two, he/she must have a music philosophy that he/she must stick to and three, he/she must be a good marketer
Either musicians perform solo or they become part of a musical group. They may perform live in theaters, stadiums or on TV Radio else they may record their performance to be played later in various forms. Singers sing character parts or they may perform in their original style. Music directors direct instrumental or vocal performances by musical groups or in a movie. Composers create original music in the form of songs and scores or jingles. Composers create and write music and combine with lyrics to make a song.
Schools are the first place where kid’s future and behaviour takes shape. The teacher has several roles to play as that of the information provider, the role model, the facilitator, the assessor and the planner. The teacher must know her student and create a warm and protective environment in the classroom which is then reflected in the academic progress of the students. Rather than being a totalitarian in the classroom, the teacher must be a guide to the student. By their love and caring attitude towards the student, by aiding their self esteem, encouraging them to share their issues in personal life, the teacher makes a big difference in the student’s life.
Career in music has become very popular among the younger generation. Many people start really early and start getting training. Many institutes offer different types of courses in music. One can also learn music from a guru without joining any educational institute. Many online courses have also become popular in recent times.

One has to struggle for quite some time before earning a name for oneself and any after that one can ask for a good money. And suddenly new genres become popular and different kind of music take over and then the money flow reduces.
As such determining pay packages for musicians is not easy. If they get employed with schools or educational institutes then of course the pay is certain.
One can pursue a career as a performing artist. One can perform solo shows after establishing one self. Various TV shows, talent shows etc provide opportunity for the same. Another is playback singing and music videos etc. One can also teach in schools and colleges. Film and TV and Radio industry also offers huge employment opportunity for budding musicians.
