Applied Art or Commercial Art, includes training students in the planning and execution of advertising and publicity. It is the art media for commercial purposes to create attractive illustration designs for Advertisements, Press/Magazine Advertisements, Posters, design of Symbols and Logos, Typography, Packaging Designs, Display Designs, Book Jackets etc. It also includes visual aids for industrial and educational application. Someone joining this field would not only need to be a good artist but also be adept in the ‘art of marketing and publicity. The field of commercial art is so vast and employment opportunities so good that anyone entering it has a variety of positions to choose from.
These days those who graduate from this stream may also become Visualizer/ Graphic Designer, Freelance artist in Advertising Agencies, Publishing house, Multimedia, Corporate houses, as Animator, and Illustrator, Web Designing, Set Designer, Interior Decorator, Teachers or administrators of art programs. Careers relating to Interior Design, Decorative Art, Advertising, Graphic Design, Film, Photography, Industrial Design, Fashion and Architecture come further as career options after completion of graduation study. As a Graphic Designer one is mostly required to design and draw Billboards, Window Slides, Technical Catalogues and Cinema Slides. One can also get employed in the Film or Theatre Productions.
Diploma in Fine Arts: Class 10 is the eligibility.
Bachelor of Fine Arts or BFA is a 4 year course and 10 +2 is the eligibility. Some universities conduct an entrance exam for admissions in this course. The BFA (applied arts) course imparts training in print media, advertising and electronic media.
At the post graduation level the course offered is Masters in Fine Arts or MFA. The duration of this course is two years.
Other than these degree courses there are many diploma and PG Diploma courses available.

(6.) Freelance designers are often paid for an assignment of a project.
Specialists in the fine arts can work as freelancers or can be employed by TV and film studios. They can also teach art at both the school and college level. A commercial artist has various job openings in art studios. Advertising agencies, publishing houses, departments of commercial establishments, etc.

There are many tasks that they have to do routinely while creating art. They begin with meeting the clients to determine need and type of design that they are looking at. They offer suggestions and take feedback from the clients continuously to reach the satisfaction level of the client. They usually make a prototype and these days things are created n computers first and then physically.
During the development phase they must make illustrations, diagrams and charts and show to the clients. They make presentations to the clients both for soliciting business and showing the progress.
